Fisher, Agnes
Agnes Fisher, Rotarian, PEO member, Friend, Twin Sister, Mother,
Grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2021 after giving her allagainst cancer – and in that wake has left a hole in the hearts of all who knew
her.
Agnes had a long successful career as a realtor and stayed engaged in the real estate world right to the end with many clients who came back time after time for her service. Her slogan “Caring Counts” was truly reflective in her approach to everything – not just in real estate.
She loved to travel and had an impressiv collection of stories from all her journeys to such far flung corners of the world as China and Africa – and
would offer sage advice on how sensible it is to arrive a couple of days before
a tour is to begin – to get the lay of the land!
There was a spirit of generosity to her that extended to not only giving to projects annually that she knew made a difference (WIN House or the Rotary Foundation) but also willingness to take on large fundraising projects as part of a committed team. She knew that many hands make light work and with
small steps you can accomplish a great deal.
Agnes had a keen mind, sharp to the end – and loved to discuss the latest in political developments – or gaffs! It was no wonder that in ninth grade she won the Governor General’s award for highest marks in her district.
Agnes spent her early career as a teacher and as such, donations to the
Gateway Rotary Club endowment fund in her name will assist students-in-need from Edmonton in achieving a post secondary education.
